Best Graduating Student, Medicine · Class of 2023

Feyisayo Divine Lopez

I am Feyisayo Divine Lopez, a graduate of the Department of Physiology at LASU's College of Medicine. I emerged Best Graduating Student for the 2020/2021 academic session with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.91, First Class Honours, an achievement I still consider one of the defining moments of my life.

My commitment to excellence has always been the driving force behind whatever I set out to do, but I didn't build that discipline alone. My parents played a huge role, structuring my day into clear sections and limiting my screen time growing up, which taught me early how to balance academics with leisure rather than letting one swallow the other.

Looking back on my time in LASU, I can honestly describe the experience as worthwhile and impactful. It shaped who I am today in ways I didn't fully appreciate while I was living through it, and I remain deeply grateful for the opportunities the university opened up for me.

I don't see myself as someone confined to one lane. I dream of becoming a polymath, with talents and competence spanning multiple fields rather than just one, and my ability to pick up new skills quickly has fed that ambition. Professionally, I intend to pursue a PhD and build a career in Physiology.

People who meet me for the first time often read me as quiet and introverted, and that's fair, I am. But once I'm comfortable around someone, a playful, goofy side comes out that most strangers never see. Music is a big part of that side of me, I'm a genuine enthusiast, with BTS and Michael Jackson topping the list of artists who've shaped my taste.
