I am Yusuf Adeola Ogunkayode, a graduate of the Department of Business Administration in the Faculty of Management Sciences, where I closed out with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.77 and First Class Honours. My journey through LASU was a life-refining one that shaped me academically while connecting me with some genuinely amazing people along the way.
What I'm proudest of is proving that academics, leadership, and enterprise don't have to compete with each other. I graduated top of my class while serving as President of the Faculty of Management Sciences, the most populous faculty in LASU at the time, and I started my first company, Delsolent Prime Consult, in the same stretch of time. Before that role, I had served as Head of Class and as Welfare Director for my department, among several other positions, and through the Delsolent Prime Advocacy and Training Programme I founded, I've continued guiding other students toward excellent grades even after graduation.
Time management was my biggest challenge, and I solved it by planning each day the night before and following a strict to-do list. Beyond that, I leaned heavily on the 80/20 Pareto principle, focusing my energy on the 20% of activities that drive 80% of results, and delegating the rest to people I trusted enough to place in the right positions. That approach taught me as much about managing people as it did about managing my own time.
My father and Cristiano Ronaldo have both been major sources of inspiration for me, alongside a healthy fear of poverty and lack that keeps pushing me to be the best at whatever I do. If there's one lesson LASU has given me for life, it's that hard work, consistency, and genuine connection make nothing truly impossible. My advice to current and incoming students is simple: education isn't only about grades, it's about the communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills that will actually carry you after school.
My personal motto has stayed with me through it all: helping as many people as possible get what they want is ultimately what brings your own success around. I remain deeply grateful to everyone who made this journey a success, and to the Department of Business Administration and LASU at large for shaping who I've become.
