Naomi Kadiri - an award-winning public speaker and public speaking coach, a millennium fellow, an ardent volunteer who is passionate about giving back to society, a graduate of the Faculty of Law, and a God girl — is recognized for her public speaking prowess within and outside the walls of the Lagos State University. So to speak, Naomi’s wild winning streak started in her first year wherein she won the LASULAWS Freshers’ Debate. She also won “The Next SAN” Debate competition organized by the Faculty of Law in her second year. She represented the Lagos State University at the Intervarsity Debate Competition alongside her teammates in the third year. In her fourth, she won the Oratory Contest Competition organized by the LASU Debate Society, and in her fifth year, she won the 4th edition of the National King of Podium Competition.
What is more, Naomi’s passion and grit in pursuing her dreams regardless of challenges and how this has helped others or given them a source of hope and encouragement is a source of fulfillment for her. She believes that the level of impact she has had on the lives of others, and how much she has led others to not just be followers but to be even greater leaders than herself is what makes her a notable graduate.
Naomi’s message to the public is to be aware of the fact that “failure is an event. It happens, and that’s okay. You can feel sad or down for a while, but it is important that you eventually realize that failure is powerful. Tame it and use it to your advantage instead. You will be amazed at the success afterwards.”
