I am Adam Morufat Olashile, a graduate of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management in the School of Agriculture. My journey at LASU carried everything a degree demands, the ups and the downs, the laughter with friends, coursemates, and lecturers who cared, alongside the days that genuinely tested me. That's just the shape of it, you don't get one without the other.
What I'm proudest of, aside from being a student, is Farmers' Crib, a community of Nigerian agricultural students I built on the philosophy of pride-building before skill-gapping. It came out of research I carried out among agriculture students, which showed that most don't see a future in the field because it's perceived as low-prestige, and Farmers' Crib exists to reposition agriculture as a career worth pursuing rather than settling for. I served as Female Welfare Officer with MSSN LASU Epe, Director of Membership and Growth with the 38th JCIN LASU, and an Honourable Member with both the 36th LASUSU and the 6th ASPC, and I represented the school at Agroween 2025, where our team's value-added products, including preservative-free tomato paste, a cassava-based cookie called savaki, and biopesticides made from moringa and neem leaves, won us a million naira cash prize.
Early on in my course I didn't face major challenges, I've always adapted easily and found my way around things. As the course progressed, my real test came from an unsupportive living environment rather than the classroom, mainly hostel issues like power and water shortages. I never truly found balance, especially in final year when leadership responsibilities, clashing classes, budgets, and deadlines all landed at once, so I simply prioritised, writing my daily tasks down because I'd started to become forgetful. LASU taught me that mediocrity was never an option, so strive for the ultimate.
My brother, Adam Moruf, has been my biggest source of inspiration throughout this journey. Along the way I won the Most Outstanding Executive award with MSSN LASU Epe in 2026 and the Most Hardworking Committee Member award with MSSN LASU Epe in 2025.
My advice to current and incoming students is to never stop asking questions, especially from people who understand the system well, and not to undersell or underestimate yourself, because you become what you tell yourself. You also have real control over your test scores, so make the most of it. As I remind myself often: strive for the ultimate, never settle for less.
