I am Adelowo David Olamide, a graduate of the Accounting Department in the Faculty of Management Sciences. LASU pushed me beyond academics, it helped me become more confident, responsible, resilient, and better prepared for life outside the university, giving me memories, lessons, friendships, challenges, and a stronger version of myself.
Being able to make a positive impact in the lives of others is what I'm proudest of, especially being someone people can rely on for guidance and support. Leading a class of over 450 students for more than three years as Head of Course for the Accounting Department Class of 2026, and separately for the Solar Energy Class Stream 2, taught me a lot about leadership, patience, accountability, and service, alongside founding and serving as CEO of SUD (Stay Updated with Dave), a platform guiding students and admission seekers through the admission process.
Balancing academics with leadership responsibilities was my major challenge, leading over 450 students while meeting lecturers' expectations required discipline, time management, and real sacrifice. LASU taught me to be strong, confident, and resilient, no matter how difficult things get, I should never let it weigh me down. I was awarded Best HOC of the Year, alongside several other recognitions for my contributions and leadership.
My mom has been my biggest source of inspiration, she sacrificed a lot for me.
My advice to current and incoming students is to just keep moving, keep pushing beyond what you could have thought was your limit. As Philippians 4:13 reminds me: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
