I am Adedeji Ngbede Aderounmu, a graduate of Religions and Peace Studies in the Faculty of Arts. My journey through LASU was uniquely challenging but rewarding, an experience that helped shape me as a person.
Founding The Peace Scholars and becoming a global social impact advocate is what I'm proudest of. I served as a Senator in LASUSU SPC, an OAP on LASU Radio, Vice-President of ARAPSS, National Director of Minds Without Borders Nigeria, Chairman of Climate Change Advocacy, a Trustee with Coupe De Main Prison Ministries, and a member of the LASU Debate Society.
Losing myself to political gains was one of my biggest challenges, and I eventually retired from active school politics as a result. Hope for the best from people, but expect the worst, a lesson that has stayed with me. I won the Award of Excellence for the Young Historian Competition, alongside the LSSB Scholarship and the CBC Scholarship.
God and my parents have been my biggest sources of inspiration throughout this journey.
My advice to current and incoming students: explore all the opportunities available to you. As I remind myself often: just do it, even if you're scared.
