I am Agboola Sodiq Babatunde, a graduate of the Islamic Studies Unit under LASSED in the Faculty of Education. Alhamdulillah, my journey through LASU brought me a lot of experiences, meeting wonderful people, collaborating on projects, and even meeting my wife along the way.
Meeting my wife and welcoming our ten-month-old baby stands out as my proudest achievement. Ever since I met her, a new sense of responsibility took root in me, alongside my school activities and the respect that came with it on campus, my name even changed from being called 'brother' to 'Abu Mujāhid.' In leadership, I served as FEMSA PRO in my 300 level and became General Secretary of FEMSA, the Faculty of Education Muslim Students Association, in 400 level.
Getting married at the end of my 300 level came with real responsibility to fulfil as a married man, suffocating at first, but it became easier by the mercy of Allah. One lesson I'll carry for life: never look down on your own achievements. I never planned on marriage during my school days, but I prayed for it anyway, and it worked out, even without feeling fully ready for it.
My father has been my biggest source of inspiration, always telling me to keep going even when I nearly broke down, to stay dedicated and positive-minded. I was also recognised by MSSN LASU for my service as FEMSA PRO and General Secretary, and I was one of the students awarded a two-year Federal Government bursary, though I'm still yet to receive a payment from it.
My plan going forward is simple: success, seeing myself in a high post one day, continuing to further my studies along the way. As I like to say about it all: my own no pass Alhamdulillah, I bagged a degree and a family.
