I am Ahmad Muhammad Ulman, a graduate of the Department of Geography and Planning in the Faculty of Social Science. My journey through LASU has been challenging but rewarding, helping me grow academically and personally while building real resilience along the way.
Completing my B.Sc. programme is my greatest achievement, a goal I had held for myself for a long time. I didn't hold any leadership position during my time in LASU, but I actively took part in academic projects, the most significant being my final-year research titled "Assessment of Soil Quality and Vegetation Change Due to Urbanization in Lagos State," which took me across different parts of the state and gave me real field research experience.
I was fortunate not to face financial challenges, thanks to supportive siblings who provided everything I needed. My real test was time management, often having to attend important meetings while still keeping up with lectures and other academic responsibilities. Hard work and consistency are the lessons I'll carry with me for life.
My family, especially my siblings, have been my biggest source of inspiration, alongside my own determination to build a better future. After graduation, I hope to become a successful business owner who creates opportunities and positively impacts others, and I also aspire to serve in government ministries tied to the environment and public development, places like the Ministry of Environment, Transportation, Water Resources and Sanitation, or Agriculture.
My advice to current and incoming students is to stay focused, be consistent, and make the most of every opportunity LASU offers. Build meaningful relationships, balance academics with personal development, and never give up, even when the journey gets difficult. As I remind myself often: if Allah helps you, none can overcome you.
