I am Alabi Abdulsalam Aderoju, a graduate of Common and Islamic Law in the Faculty of Law. Looking back, I'd describe my journey through LASU as challenging, transformative, and deeply rewarding, filled with academic pressure, personal growth, leadership responsibilities, friendships, and countless memorable experiences.
I'm proud of every single milestone I achieved while at LASU, but completing my LL.B degree with Double Honours stands out the most, representing years of hard work, sacrifice, resilience, and perseverance. I served as President of the Court of Appeal, one of the leadership roles that shaped my time on campus.
Balancing academics with leadership, extracurricular responsibilities, and personal commitments was my biggest challenge, one I overcame through discipline, proper time management, and surrounding myself with supportive friends, colleagues, lecturers, and family. Growth doesn't always happen when things are easy, sometimes it comes from the moments when you're tired or under pressure yet choose to keep going.
My mom has been my biggest source of inspiration throughout this whole journey. I picked up several recognitions along the way, including HOC of the Year and Most Reputable Student, honours that reflected the effort I put in beyond the classroom.
My advice to current and incoming students: there will be difficult semesters and disappointing moments, don't let temporary setbacks define your journey. Stay consistent, ask for help when you need it, and surround yourself with people who genuinely want to see you succeed. As I remind myself often: God knows best, just do your thing.
