I am Bayowa Favour Oluwabukola, a graduate of Biochemistry in the Faculty of Science, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.73. My journey through LASU was nothing short of transformational, the experiences, the people, and having to serve in various capacities taught me what it meant to take responsibility and make the right decisions.
I'm proud of my journey, my result, and the people I met, but I'm most proud of serving as President and Academic Officer of my department, because of the impact it had on people and on my own growth. I also served as President and General Secretary of RCF and CRM Lagos zone, and co-led or contributed to initiatives including CTY, freshers' orientation, EVOLVE 3.0 LASU, an Academic Symposium, and various SDG projects.
Coming from Port Harcourt to Lagos and LASU, somewhere I had never been, made adapting to a new environment my biggest challenge, which I overcame through networking and the beautiful people God sent my way. LASU taught me resilience, the ability to persist even when things aren't going in the best direction. I won Scholar of the Year for the Faculty of Science 2024, Biochemistry Student of the Year, Most Influential Student 2024, the NSBS Hall of Fame Award 2025, and, as President of RCF LASU Ojo, the Icon of the Year and Outstanding Leadership award.
My family background has been my biggest motivation, I just wanted to be a pacesetter and make them proud in whatever way I could.
My advice to current and incoming students is to stay true to yourself, don't get carried away by campus noise, prioritise what matters, and learn a skill and master it alongside your grades. As I remind myself often: who said you can't do it? Don't limit yourself, because only you have that power
