I am Kolawole Eniola Israel, a graduate of the Foreign Languages Department in the Faculty of Arts. My journey through LASU was a rollercoaster, full of unexpected turns.
Graduating from LASU is what I'm proudest of, it wasn't simply about earning a degree, it was about finishing despite the many responsibilities and challenges I had to navigate, and there were moments when continuing felt difficult, but I kept going. I served as Clerk of FLASAN in 2023, Librarian of the LASU Christian Fellowship in 2024, Speaker of the Foreign Languages Student Association in 2025, and an Honorary Member of the 31st and 32nd FASA assembly.
My course, Portuguese and English, wasn't what I was initially admitted to, it was changed on the sixth week of resumption, and it was hard understanding anything because my heart wasn't in it at first, but caring lecturers and friends, plus student politics as a co-curricular activity, helped me accept my fate and eventually find joy in Portuguese. Any reason given for a work not done is an excuse, the tale is beautiful when it's a success story, a lesson that stays with me. I won the Best Parliamentarian of the Year Award for FLASAN in both 2023 and 2025, among other recognitions.
My lecturers and close circle of friends made sure I was inspired daily, from challenging classes to real-life examples set by my professors.
My advice to current and incoming students: enjoy the trouble, you'll miss every stressful 8am class eventually. As I remind myself often: que sera sera, I'm getting there.
