KOIKI AISHAT KEHINDE

I am Aishat Kehinde Koiki, a graduate of the Department of Accounting in the Faculty of Management Sciences. My journey at LASU has been inspiring, fun, and eye-opening, I made good friends from departments I never would have expected, and met people and lecturers who pushed me to do my utmost best.

Graduating with a solid First Class Honours, not a borderline, while sitting professional exams within weeks of my academic exams, actively participating in extracurricular activities, and completing an internship all at once, is what I'm proudest of. I served as Financial Secretary and later Vice President of The Tax Club LASU, Head of Securities and Trading and Acting Head of HR of The Investment Society LASU before becoming its President, sat on committees for NUASA and ABC 8.0, represented my department at the CFA Equity Research Challenge, and won the Access 6.0 Intervarsity Quiz Competition and the ANAN Ikeja Branch Quiz Competition.

Balancing academics with the many activities I was engaged in was my biggest challenge, which I managed by arranging my activities in order of priority and using my time well. You don't only learn within the four walls of the classroom, you learn in gatherings and when you listen more to people, a lesson I'll always carry.

My family and friends have been my biggest sources of inspiration throughout this whole journey.

My advice to current and incoming students: as much as you're chasing that CGPA, participate in educational extracurricular activities if you can balance it, that's how relationships with like-minded people get built. As my favourite line goes: don't just be a First Class Student or a First Class Graduate, be a First Class Product.
