I am Obatola Adewunmi Rebecca, a graduate of Banking and Finance, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.75. Looking back, my journey through LASU was transformational, I entered with the vision of performing excellently academically, and I'm proud that I didn't settle for less even when it looked like the easiest thing to do.
Graduating with a First Class is what I'm proudest of, my sleepless nights eventually paid off. I served as an executive in The Investment Society LASU as Assistant General Secretary, and as Academic Coordinator at Chapel of Light Youth Fellowship, and was recognised as Most Active Executive at The Investment Society.
LASU taught me perseverance, and it has really shaped how I react to situations when they don't go my way, I now approach life realistically and try to stay on my toes always, a lesson that will stay with me for life.
My background, and where I'm coming from, has always pushed me to do more, reminding myself that if I want to change my reality, I need to put in the work.
My advice to current and incoming students is to always crave excellence in everything you do, let excellence be your watchword, and don't have the mindset of a mediocre. Participate in extracurricular activities and leadership positions, they really give you experience. As my personal motto puts it, if academic excellence is attainable, do not settle for less.
