OKE, DORCAS KEHINDE

I am Oke Dorcas Kehinde, a graduate of the Department of English Language in the Faculty of Arts. My journey through LASU was a mixture of challenges, growth, learning, and memorable experiences, and every challenge taught me resilience, patience, and determination.

Completing my degree in English Language, which strengthened my communication skills, critical thinking, and research abilities, is what I'm proudest of, particularly completing my final-year project and staying committed all the way to graduation. I didn't hold any formal leadership positions, but I actively participated in debates, poetry slams, and academic clubs organised by lecturers.

Balancing school with my responsibilities at home, since I lived at home throughout my four years, was my biggest challenge, and there were times the pressure affected my GPA, but I learned to manage my time better and keep pushing. There's no excuse for giving up, a lesson that will stay with me for life.

My scholarly friends have been my biggest source of inspiration, watching their dedication and discipline motivated me to push myself and strive for excellence too.

My advice to current and incoming students: stay focused, work hard, and remain consistent, hard work and patience always pay off in the end. As I remind myself often: always be open to learning, unlearning, and relearning.
