I am Onafeko Aaliyah Omoleye, a graduate of the Faculty of Law. Looking back, my journey through Law at LASU was a profound test of resilience, balancing rigorous legal studies with major personal milestones during my final year, sustained throughout by the steadfast support of my family and loved ones.
Earning my law degree right after conquering final year while heavily pregnant stands as my proudest milestone, an experience that forged an unbreakable resilience and proved my capacity to thrive under extraordinary pressure. Navigating the intense academic demands of that final year alongside the physical and emotional toll of pregnancy was my greatest challenge, one I overcame through meticulous time management, unyielding discipline, and the resolve to finish what I started.
Hard work combined with tawakkul, complete reliance on Allah, can carry a person through any trial, no burden is ever placed on us beyond what we can bear, and that lesson will stay with me for life. My parents, my husband, and my husband's parents have been my greatest sources of strength throughout this journey, turning heavy burdens into shared triumphs through their prayers and support.
As I prepare to transition into the Nigerian Law School by February, my immediate focus is mastering the Bar curriculum. In five years, I see myself as a seasoned legal practitioner established in either specialised litigation or corporate practice, balancing a thriving career with the commitments of my growing family.
My advice to current and incoming students is to build a solid foundation early and master consistency over cramming, treat your studies like a daily job rather than a last-minute scramble, and never isolate yourself. As the Qur'an reminds me: with hardship comes ease.
