I am Soyemi Temitope Joshua, a graduate of Mechanical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering. My journey through LASU was challenging, with days of pressure, setbacks, and tough decisions, but looking back now, it was worth every hassle.
Serving NIMechE LASU EPE, the LASU Christian Fellowship, and Chapel of Light will always be a badge of honour, alongside being recognised as one of the successful barbers on Epe Campus. I was Welfare Director for the 2022/2023 NIMechE LASU administration and Organizing Secretary of the LASU Christian Fellowship, Epe Campus, for 2023/2024, and I helped sponsor the first NIMechE LASU Dinner and Award Night in 2025, alongside serving as a long-time usher in the University Chapel.
Mechanical Engineering did its thing, and I had to make an academic comeback after failing some courses and briefly fearing an extra year, but I never gave up on studying or my faith in God. Being prayerful, hardworking, and resilient, while studying smart and not just hard, is the lesson I'll carry for life.
My parents, and the current Deputy Governor of Lagos, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, have been my biggest sources of inspiration.
My advice to current and incoming students: put God first in all your affairs, never give up on yourself, and never involve yourself in examination malpractice. As I remind myself often: we go dey alright
